Singe, the dam of ONE IN A MILLION, although unraced, she was nevertheless, a half sister to Deep Run - champion Irish 2 year old in 1968 and a most prolific sire of winners. Milltrailleuse, granddam of Singe, however, was the winner of the Park Hill St (Gr2) Doncaster and the dam of 11 winners including Full Dress - winner of 1000 Guineas (Gr1) Newmarket; Hot Touch - winner of Dante St (Gr2) York; Grag-an-Sgor - winner of Middle Park St (Gr1) Newmarket and Out of Shot - winner of the Oaks Trial (Gr3)
Being by Rarity was the obvious reason for naming ONE IN A MILLION. She was trained by Henry Cecil in Newmarket and certainly lived up to her name by winning her first five consecutive races including the classic 1000 Guineas (Gr1) Newmarket, Coronation St (Gr2) Royal Ascot and the Nell Gwyn St (Gr3) Newmarket. This was following her two successes as a 2 year old in the Blue Seal St (L) Ascot and Houghton St (L) Newmarket, the only races in which she ran.
